Frances Gwin Clare Grogan Grimes has been baking chocolate chip cookies for about 40 years while also pursuing her chosen career as a singing cowgirl.

Gwin is co-owner of Artisan Baking Co. with her husband, Mark Grimes.

She teaches baking and cooking classes at the Community Kitchens program at the Tarrant Area Food Bank, Culinary School of Fort Worth and Central Market Cooking School.

Gwin has written three cookbooks and has written for various publications, including Chile Pepper magazine. She is a consultant and recipe developer and tester for local and national clients.

She is a member of the Bread Bakers Guild of America, Chefs Collaborative, Slow Food, Texas Chefs Association, Southern Foodways Alliance and a founding member of Foodways Texas.

For 25-plus years, Gwin was a writer, editor and restaurant critic for various newspapers and magazines, including the Dallas Business Journal and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Once upon a time, she was the Gift Girl on “Good Day Dallas” on the Dallas-Fort Worth Fox affiliate,  doing regular segments on the best gifts to buy for various occasions and events. She also occasionally did cooking segments and never once set anything on fire on live television.

In an effort to reach her full multi-media potential, Gwin concurrently co-produced and occasionally co-hosted the “Texas Food and Travel” weekly radio talk show with June Naylor on WBAP News/Talk 820 AM.

Gwin has a master’s degree in liberal arts from TCU and a B.A. in Communications/Journalism from Louisiana State University-Shreveport.
